Hello everyone! Today is Thursday and today turned out to be an interesting day. I hadn't mentioned it but for the past few weeks I've been getting a bit more tired and was starting to get a little dizzy and a bit winded when I did steps. I noticed it mostly at Royals games since I'm in the second to last row from the back so have to climb a few steps. I chalked it up to the fact that I hadn't been to the gym in a long time and am in desperate need of cardio work because I'm out of shape. Well last weekend I started getting chest pain. It was more like a pain in my lungs. Monday I started with a bit of a runny nose that got worse by Tuesday. Trying to be a bit proactive I called the doctor's office Tuesday afternoon while driving home from work. I'm notoriously bad at going to the doctor and usually wait until it gets too bad and is full blown bronchitis or something. They told me they had an appointment Wednesday afternoon (since it was late on Tuesday) but I couldn't make that one so they offered me Thursday morning. I got up this morning with the intention of going to the doctor and then going into work so I got dressed in a pair of dockers and one of my Disney polo shirts (which I have enough of now to have a different one every day LOL). As I got showered and ready for the day I felt especially crappy. Last night I had got home late from work (around 7 PM) and took some Tylenol cold thinking that might help. It did let me get a good night's sleep at least. As I waited to leave to see the doc I noticed that the chest pain was worse, especially when I took a deep breath. Therefore, I called work and rearranged my schedule so I could take today off as I thought a day of rest would probably be the best thing. At the doctor's office I ended up having to wait a bit, probably because I was an add-on appointment. When the doctor came in she checked me out after hearing my symptoms. She told me that I have tracheitis. I had never heard of it before but the doctor said I probably got it a few weeks ago when I started getting the shortness of breath. She said it has developed into a bacterial infection which has lead to the other respiratory and sinus symptoms. So I'm now on antibiotics and Prednisone. Whenever I'm on Prednisone I usually get bouts of energy after I start feeling better and with my schedule I could use that. Anyways, here is the wiki article on tracheitis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracheitis So on my "sick" day I did some stuff on my laptop for work for a bit but then I lied down and took a nap for a few hours. Now that I started the medication I am feeling a bit better but still congested and lightheaded. So that has been my exciting day! Jace |
